Himalayan Bank Limited was established in 1992 by the distinguished
business personalities of Nepal in partnership with Employees Provident
Habib Bank Limited, one of the largest commercial bank of Pakistan.
It is the first commercial bank of Nepal with maximum shareholding
by the Nepalese private sector. Besides commercial activites, the
Bank also offers industrial and merchant banking.
The bank at present has the five branches in Kathmandu Valley, namely
Thamel, New Road, Maharajgunj, Pulchowk (Patan) and Nagarkot besides
three branches outside Kathmandu in Birgunj, Bharatpur and Tandi.
The bank is also operating a counter in the premise of the Royal
Palace. The Bank has a very aggressive plan of establishing more
branches in different parts of the kingdom in the near future.

PRODUCTS AND SERVICES
Though Himalayan Bank is fairly young in terms of tenure of its
operation, it has been the innovator in introducing many new products.
To illustrate, the following products have been implemented till
now by the Bank.
Credit Card:
Himalayan Bank has been a pioneer in introducing a Nepalese domestic
Credit Card, "Himalayan. Bank Credit Card"
valid in Nepal. encouraged by the demand for our Credit Card, e
Bank has also introduced "Himalayan Bank
Gold Card" with additional privileges. Himalayan bank is
also a member of VISA and Master Card International. The bank issues
all ranges of VISA Card and has a plan of issuing MasterCard by
mid 2000.
Tele-banking:
To provide more prompt and efficient service to its customers, Himalayan
Bank has been pioneering in instituting tele?banking service. Dialing
a pre?specified telephone number, our clients will be able to:
* make balance and statement inquiries,
* order statements and cheque books,
* request instant faxing of statements
and
* get information on foreign exchange
rates, interest rates, etc.
Any Branch Banking:
This product, integrated with our core banking system, has enabled
us to make certain operations like withdrawal and deposit of cash
and cheques from any of our branches possible. Customers maintaining
an account with any of our branches can walk in to any of the branches
convenient to them for operation of the account which means they
are not restricted to a particular branch to operate that account.
Automatic Teller Machine (ATM):
The Automatic Teller Machine (ATM) established in the premises of
our NewRoad Branch has enabled us to extend services for 24 hours.
Customers can utilize our New Road Branch ATM and make withdrawals
at any time, be it 7:00 a.m. in the morning or 12:00p.m. midnight.
To avail of this facility, the customer must request an ATM card
from any of our branches. Thanks to Any Branch Banking Service,
the withdrawal can be made. from any account in any of' our branches.
Plans are underway to install more ATM machines and provide this
service from all our branches.
24 Hours Banking:
The Bank's New Road Branch will start offering banking services
24 hours, 365 days in the near.future which will enable the customers
to avail ofbankingjacilities at all wakeful hours.
