Introduction
|
In
the year 2038 B.S. Little Flowers' Boarding School was established in
Birtamod, Anarmani, Jhapa. Within a very short period of time, the school
became a full-fledged high school and acquired unchallenged reputation
in the whole of Eastern Nepal. Many education conscious intellectuals
of the Terai and Kathmandu valley were so impressed, at the success
of Little Flowers', Jhapa, that they urged the management to start a
similar type of school in Kathmandu Valley also. |
Aims & Objectives

The aim of 'GEMS' is to impart education to children, with English as the medium of instruction, while bearing in mind, all the time, their psychological and physical needs, and to guide and train the students so as to enable them to develop their faculties and shed their radiance like precious and pure 'GEMS' of serene rays, wherever they go. The reputation, scores of ex-students of 'GEMS' have earned in foreign institutions speaks for itself, The motto of 'GEMS' 'LEAD KINDLY LIGHT' has been and, will always be upheld. |
Syllabus

Infrastructure
|
The syllabus will be a combination of the National Education System and the best aspects of the English system of education so that the children will develop nationalistic feelings from a very tender age and acquire a vast knowledge of the country and the outside world. The concept of self-imposed discipline will be, inculcated through the amalgamation of the workshop method, the Montessori and the Kindergarten system. A detailed syllabus will be sent to the guardians at the start of the academic session. The detailed syllabus will be prepared with due care, considering a child's capacity to absorb, appreciate and grasp. | A rich library facilitates the students in gathering additional information required. Science experiments are conducted in a well-equipped laboratory and an advanced computer laboratory has been set up to impart practical computational knowledge. The medium of instruction and communication will be English, except during Nepali lessons. |
Admission

Academic Infrastructure
|
Generally, students are admitted from Nursery to Class VI (Six) only. Boys and girls who have completed the age of four may be enrolled as day students. To be enrolled as a boarder' the age should exceed 6 years. Admission forms and the School Prospectus are available at the Accounts Office usually during the 2 week of April (1 week of Baisakh) every year. Except for admission to Nursery, Admission Tests will be taken as stated in the School Calendar and only successful candidates will be admitted. In case of students seeking transfer from other schools, the Transfer, Character and Clearance certificates from the previous school are compulsory at the time of admission. | Academic Session begins in the month of July (1 week of Shrawan) and is completed by the last week of May (end of Jestha) every year. Academic Session is divided into three terms and each term ends with the conduction of terminal examination. Regular unit tests account for 10% and terminal examinations for 90%. The final result is prepared on the basis of average marks obtained throughout the session. Students who fail in the same class for two consecutive years will be asked to leave the school. Holidays will be clearly mentioned in the school calendar. |

Future Plans

Classes from IV to X will be shifted to newly constructed buildings from the coming Academic Session 2058 (2001/02). However, Pre-Wing (Nursery LKG & UKG ) and Primary Wing (I III Boarders & Day-Scholars) will remain at the same place (Kiran Bhawan, Sanepa) taking into consideration convenience of parents. |
